if anybody's wondering why i'm at home on a saturday afternoon while people are out enjoying at orchard road, i've run out of friends. haha.

going out with jo for drinks last nite was fun. haha. even though she made me wait for ** minutes. haha. i spent the time watching lunatics and madmen get bungeed up into the night sky for dunno how many dollars... so fun meh? newae, after i spent that amnt of time watching them we went to china bar for drinks. met a couple of older folks there, who were jo's employers. they're kinda weird if u ask me. haha. but well, they're friendly... and chain smokers and drinkers. hahahaha. oh and i found out that china bar is actually like a club full of mats. haha. how ironic.

oh congratulations to jo for getting her overseas scholarship!

the song i'm listening to now irritates the hell out of jo:p

Jason just concealed himself in the shadows

4:36 PM
I almost got drunk at school at 14,
where I almost made out with the homecoming queen
Who almost went on to be miss texas,
but lost to a slut with much bigger breastes
I almost dropped out to move to LA,
where I was almost famous for almost a day

And I almost had you,
But I guess that doesn't cut it
Almost loved you
I almost wished u would've loved me too

I almost held up a grocery store,
where I almost did 5 years and then 7 more
Cuz I almost got popped for a fight with a thug,
cuz he almost made off with a bunch of the drugs
That I almost got hooked on cuz you ran away,
and I wish I woulda had the nerve to ask you to stay

And I almost had you,
But I guess that doesn't cut it
Almost had you,
And I didn't even know it

You kept me guessing
and now I guess that
I spent my time missing you
I almost wish you would've loved me too

Here I go thinking about all the things I could've done,
i'm gonna need a forklift cuz all the baggage weighs a ton
I know we've had our problems I can't remember one

I almost forgot to say something else,
and if I cant fit it in I'll keep it all to myself
I almost wrote a song about you today,
but I tore it all up and then I threw it away

And I almost had you,
but I guess that doesn't cut it
Almost had you
And I didn't even know it

You kept me guessing and now I guess that
I spent my time missing you
And I almost had you
I almost wish you would've loved me too

wonderful song...

Jason just concealed himself in the shadows

6:39 PM
in a continuation of yesterday's post, or rather, this morning's post, i decided to chip in with my two cents worth abt the casino issue.

much has been said abt how the economy will be boosted by the 35000 jobs created, plus the extra expenditure and the increase in tourist traffic due to the casino, but less weightage was given to the social ills. it seems to me that the possible dangers of having an Integrated Resort (IR) in singapore have been glossed over in favour of the immediate benefits of economical nature. there ARE many short term benefits, agreed. 35000 jobs created is nothing to sneeze at, not to mention the extra support services required.

the social ills are far more troubling. families with members who are gamblers will perhaps agree with me in this when i say that opening a casino here will cause large scale damage to the basic family unit. spouses will quarrel over the frequency of visits, the expenditure on said visits, and the (inevitable) losses. Even with the so called "ban right", which gives families the right to ban people from the casino, families will suffer. this ban right btw, is quite frankly ridiculous. how dysfunctional can you be as a family when you need a government to step in and give you powers to stop ur husband, or father, or wife or son or daughter from going to a casino? to the husbands and fathers of families, i say this. having a gambling addiction, or indeed, any addiction to any vice that harms ur family is despicable. it shows a total lack of any discipline or care or concern for ur family, which you are duty-bound to protect and nourish. to spend money on ur own self-gratification and getting your next fix is just pathetic.

furthermore, the government has said that profits from the casinos will go to helping those families who have been affected by gambling addiction. what utter rubbish. you build a casino here and say you will help those with a gambling addiction kick the habit? WHAT. perhaps someone can explain to me how setting up a casino within easy reach will help gamblers kick the habit? this allocation of funds to "gamblers anonymous" is quite frankly ridiculous. the funds should have gone there ANYWAY. regardless of whether you're setting up a casino or not.

maybe i'm wrong, maybe the government has it all worked out. oh wait, they do don't they. the economy needs boosting, 35000 over jobs is good! but this proposal gets BETTER. with all the breakdown of families and social problems, we'll need more social workers! more marriage counsellors! more therapy! wonderful! we'll create even MORE jobs then! hooray for the PAP! think i can hear Lee Hsien Loong's Secret Police (ie. ISD) knocking on my door now. haha.

i watched the interpreter with peeks last nite. haha. quite fun catching up and it was quite a good movie. i saw several parallels between our (shudder) MINISTER MENTOR Lee and the african dictator in the movie. haha, think his name is Edmond Zuwanie of Matobo. both started out as visionary leaders, who "freed" a country and gained independence, but are now hanging on to power, long past their "sell-by date". the only difference is, our (shudder) MINISTER MENTOR Lee doesn't commit genocide and commence ethnic culling.

everytime i hear the words (shudder) MINISTER MENTOR, i get the heebie jeebies. it's just such a SICK title. ahha. even like, immortal dictatorial demon overlord sounds better. haha. or like, titanium general commander lord or some name that sounds like it came out of a puerile teenage japanese/taiwanese anime game. haha.

i was outfield these past few days and what else could i do while manning the signal set but read newspapers... haha. anyway, i read this article that got me thinking.

this young lady i read abt had 4 different serious conditions, namely adhesion colic, inappropiate sinus tachycardia, neurally medicated hypertension and fibro myalgia... i respect her for fighting on, and i am truly impressed by her determination. but that wasn't what the article was about. it was about how ppl saw her doubled up in pain on the mrt yet did nothing to help. what is this country coming to? we would buy livestrong bands and say we're giving the money to charity yet when it boils down to the chase you'd watch a young woman suffer from ur comfortable seat on the mrt? shame i say... shame on those who buy those bands in the name of "charity" when all they really want to do is to look "cool". shame on those who stood by and wondered what type of illness this brave young lady might have and whether it was contagious rather than what they could do to help. hypocrites of the highest order.

another topic for thought is the recent casino debate. many have been proponents for setting up these Integrated Resorts (IR), citing the large number of jobs created and the boost it would give to the economy, but i prefer to focus on the social negatives that the establishments would have. the government has been quoted as saying as profits from the casinos would be put into helping people with their gambling addiction. wouldn't the casino be self-defeating then, no matter which way you see it? assuming that the "gamblers anonymous" works, then there'd be less people coming to gamble, meaning less business for the casino, which means more reliance on tourists, and the novelty of gambling here will die down eventually, especially when there are cheaper places to gamble. if the aid given to gamblers doesn't work, then all the casino has done is to increase the problems for families with gambling addicts. easier access to gambling facilities and ineffective counselling will only make things worse for the families who have "hardcore" gamblers in their lives. what is worse, the govt has proposed to set a "ban right" for those families who do not want their members to frequent the casinos. what utter nonsense is this? need we any more sign of a dysfunctional family, nay, society, when laws and rules are needed to give a spouse the power to stop her husband from gambling? these matters should be settled within the family! forcing a man to stop is not the same as teaching him to stop. on second thought, the economy will receive a MUCH LARGER boost. not only will they need people for the casinos, more family and marriage counsellors will be needed to deal with the increase in domestic spats when quarrels occur due to a ban from going to the casino. surely, our oh so great, oh so omnipotent and oh so omnipresent government has thought of this. no wonder they wanted the casinos.

i just watched the interpreter with peeks. interesting show, thought the plot was a wee bit weak. and perhaps it's me, but i saw an interesting parallel between (shudder) MINISTER MENTOR Lee and the african ruler of matambo. starts out with great ideas and the freedom and independence of a country, after that, an iron fist in an iron glove, and just doesn't know when to step down. haha. thank goodness our (shudder) MINISTER MENTOR Lee isn't into culling different ethnic races and committing genocide. mwahaha. ISD knocking at my door alredi:p

it's a abt 3 hours to book in time... just thought i'd give my 2 cents worth on life as a whole...

parents out of town, friends all busy, being alone has really managed to focus my thoughts... i'm alredi planning how to face the nxt week, what with the outfield stuff and all, having to spend most of the time with the malodorous CSM. ahha.

i think sometimes we take things for granted... definitely a lot of the privileges we get in echo as OOCs are just that. privileges. and they're being abused sometimes... lets just say certain ppl are using the leniency and disappearing a lot. i think if u wanna slack dun make other ppl do ur work. anyway... to each his own la.

this taking for granted thing isn't just confined to the army. in outside life, it also applies. how many times have we just blasted at a friend who was trying to help, lashing out in ur moment of anger. how many times have we lost it at our parents, thinking they're over bearing... how many times have we taken our friends for granted, treating them like dirt, when all they've done is to be there for us, listening to our problems and trying to offer support and care. instead, we trample all over them, treating them like doormats.

oh well.

just watched creep with joy grace and tracy tonight... it's a stupid movie that still makes u jump out of ur seat with shock. haha. i mean like, the killer is down, with a stiletto sticking out of his head... a weapon, which looks like a boat hook, is right next to him... i'd have put the bugger out of his misery by stabbing it clean thru... but nooooo, they run away... still, the shocks and surprises are quite "scary" la... haha. but not like fear fear... the killer looks like some misshapen lump of goo... and he's a retarded doctor who can't even put on gloves properly... haha. it's just... gory... felt a bit nauseous at parts... newae...

all the best to jo! haha. she's got her selection thingie nxt week for BT/SPH. haha. go jo go! say that rhymes:p

being an OOC hasn't been too bad...

lots of paperwork, organizing, and surprisingly little sai kang. haha. or maybe i'm just clever at getting out of spots of sai kang.. ahha. on the other hand, u get duties like having to stand in for COS duty when ur only a private, sending arms and all like a sergeant. haha. a couple of trainees even went "good evening sergeant!" when they saw me. hahaha. okok, so i've got a swollen head:p oh and the other part abt being an OOC is having to answer to the OC. haha. esp me. i guess it isn't that bad la, doing his stuff, but still quite a bit of tension. the lesson plans nearly killed me. haha. chasing for signatures, organizing the lesson plans, making sure the lessons were in order and approved... blah. spent like 3 over days on those...

marcus and me were playing a game on Saturday when the OC called and we couldn't hear which of us he was calling... the winner is the one who doesn't have to go report... haha. and guess who won? ME. mwahahhaha. though it won't last forever. haha.

oh and playing risk on the office com is quite addictive. haha.

an appeal to those who have Jay Chou's Ge Qian and Qi Li Xiang... Pls send it to me... hurhur.

make some sense

best viewed in 1024 X 768 resolution. a brief history about the author pertaining to the theme of shadow of transcendence. it came about in the wee hours of the early morning while being whisked away into memories of the past etched deep within the mind. bittersweetness that tingled the tastebuds of her emotions and feelings, the only way out for true liberation from this reality is what is behind the shadow of transcendence; suicide. the taste of iron-rust blood coiled with the lingering bittersweetness is the only contemplation of which the simplicity of life has to offer in exchange for the shadow of transcendence. made in the heavens through one creator, an angel borne to serve man; fell from where it belonged to earth where its purity shadowed by boredom and nohing better to do.

enjoy what i make out of maturity and childish fantasies.
